Phoenix, AZ – “With the green coatings market predicted to grow at nearly 6% a year through 2023, the whole industry is now in a full turn to green,” says Castagra Products, Inc. CEO Peter Roosen.

“It is extraordinary. When we started with our green coatings nearly 25 years ago this leviathan of an industry was continuing its journey to the horizon with all the conventional coatings that exuded VOCs.

“Now it is full speed for green coatings. We have never had so much interest in our coatings that are zero VOCs, zero BPA, and so pure, they can be in contact with drinking water and foodstuffs.”

Castagra’s main product Ecodur is made from renewable castor oil and recyclable gypsum, a naturally occurring, inert soft rock. When combined, they produce a plasticized gypsum polymer that is highly robust against harsh chemicals and has nearly triple the grip of most conventional epoxy coatings.

Furthermore, it permanently retains a set degree of flexibility and is ANSI/NSF-61 certified for contact with drinking water making it ideal for use in water and wastewater facilities, as well as fresh and frozen food storage areas.

It is particularly suited to roofs where adhesion to both substrates and the new cool roof topcoats are a critical factor in protection.

“Arizona, where we are headquartered, is the nation’s benchmark, we believe, for testing roof coating performance and our Ecodur has performed outstandingly at various locations in the state,” commented Roosen.

Genesis Market Insights reports the global green coatings market was valued at USD 89.8 Billion last year. This market is further estimated to be growing at a CAGR of 5.68% from 2018 to reach USD 125.1 Billion by the year 2023. Europe, last year, held the highest market share and North America is considered to be the fastest growing market through to the end of the forecast period.

“Our sales people say that the vast majority of customers and potential ones are insisting that the basic green credentials of zero VOCs and zero toxicity are co-equal to performance expectations. This was not the case a few years ago.

“Finally, I believe, the major coatings manufacturers are in a full turn into this green market and, most recently, they are showing interest in us especially for roofing as our Ecodur as it is proving a cost-effective solution for bleed blocking on asphalt, working with other tricky substrates, and as an ideal primer for cool roof topcoats such as silicones where adhesion is totally critical,” concluded Roosen.

Castagra Products Inc. has its registered office in Reno, Nevada, and corporate headquarters in Phoenix, Arizona. The main toll production facility is in Houston in Texas. Castagra is focussed on providing ultra-protective VOC-free, BPA-free, non-toxic coatings for roofing, flooring, water and waste water industries and oil, gas, frac production water storage tanks and pipes.
