From Light To Heavy Industrial Flooring – The Coating For The Times.

Phoenix, AZ. “The public wants a greener environment. Light and heavy industrial customers want a coating to not only have the highest green credentials, but also the right price, performance and applicability,” stated Castagra Products, Inc.’s CEO, Peter Roosen.

Ecodur, the simple, manually-applied, plasticized gypsum floor coating meets the highest environmental demands. It is widely regarded as a green leader for being VOC-free, BPA-free, PGE-free, solvent-free, non-toxic, long before most of the competition and is so pure that is certified for contact with drinking water.

“But, these accolades would have absolutely no meaning or value in the marketplace if it was not for its proven performance in some of the world’s toughest conditions – ship decks, frac tanks, water and wastewater facilities, sewage inlets, and every manner of light and heavy industrial flooring situations.”

For a quarter of century, this plasticized gypsum has carved a niche as the go to coating for the toughest jobs.

Roosen pointed out that many conventional epoxy coatings, especially on steel structures such as ship decks which are subject to torqueing and vibrations, often fail by micro-cracking within just a few months.

“Ecodur’s retained flexibility, enormous grip on substrates, and ability to be repaired at any time during its lifetime with a perfect bonding of the new coat on old, has helped significantly reduce maintenance costs and maintain hygiene standards in specialty facilities where human food products are stored and prepared,” he continued.

It is inside hundreds of frac tanks where the cocktail of chemicals has shown its particular robustness to corrosive chemicals.

Ecodur is made from renewable castor oil and naturally-occurring soft rock gypsum which is not only the key to overall coating performance but also allows Castagra to price it cheaper than so-called competing products.

“End users are always surprised how easy it is to apply on floors. It’s a true mop and bucket or squeegee coating. With about 30 minutes to ‘tack free’ status and 24 hours to full cure, this coating minimises down time and being VOV-free, workers in adjacent areas can carry on working,” observed Roosen.

“Ecodur is versatile. You might not just want to cover a floor with a hard-working coating, but also address some ugly cracking. Ecodur, when applied, seeps deep into cracks providing a permanent waterproof seal. It can have anti-slip material added such as sand, stone chips, metal flakes and even crushed walnut as a green alternative.

“At the cosmetic appeal end of consumer demands, Ecodur takes a decorative top coat making it the most suitable coating for showrooms and private garages without any compromise on performance.”

Roosen said a stand-out feature is Ecodur’s exceptional cold weather performance.

“Construction is not confined to balmy summer months but goes on throughout winter. Ecodur can be applied to floors in the severest of cold temperatures when conventional epoxy coatings have to stay in the container. The surfaces just need to be clean and dry and the application performed with the temperature of the target surface a minimum of 5 degrees Fahrenheit above dew point.”

Ecodur has a Class A flame retardant rating. When heated by a flame, the formulation is forced to release water molecules, which, in many instances, has the flame source quickly self-extinguishing.
