“Fracking’s changing the coatings industry and creating big opportunities abroad for US companies,” says Castagra CEO, Peter Roosen.

Frac Tanks ready to be coated with Ecodur 201

RENO, NEVADA, May 24, 2014 – Castagra products Inc., a pioneer of veggie plastic, non-VOC, protective coatings, sees the fracking industry creating one of the biggest segments of the coatings industry.

“The fracking industry is becoming all pervasive. First it was static and mobile oil tanks, production water tanks, and now it’s the railcar tank business.

“What’s happened,” said Roosen, “is the initial corrosive effects of the fracking process and the oil and gas produced, weren’t widely apparent. The cocktails of chemicals and those in the recovered oil have suddenly become a major issue because of the excessive corrosion.

“Now, railcar tanks are a big issue grabbing the headlines because of the spate of recent derailments that led to major death and destruction, and highlighted the high risk factors associated with corroded tanks carrying fracked oil.

“Our coatings have proven to be some of the most robust in terms of combatting corrosion related to fracking. Combined with the fact that our Ecodur is non-toxic, VOC-free, non-flammable, and does not require the use of dangerous solvents, it is finding ever growing acceptance as the anti-corrosion coating of choice in the fracking industry.”

Roosen said fracking is here to stay and will ultimately prove to be a colossal boon to the US economy, ushering in a new era secure domestic energy supplies for generations to come, something inconceivable a mere decade or so ago.

“It’s not just happening here though. Other countries have vast amounts of shale oil and gas waiting to be extracted. Even a 5% extraction rate can be viable in such countries as the UK where they recently announced 4.4 billion barrels of shale oil in south-east England. The UK Government has made fracking a national priority.

“I cannot help but think that the tremendous success of the US fracking business has been the catalyst that has finally woken up the rest of the world to their own domestic opportunities. That will, I believe, ultimately spell out major opportunities for experienced individuals and companies, Castagra included,” concluded Roosen.
