After months of negotiations, the House and Senate have approved the Water Resource Reform Development Act (WRRDA). The WRRDA involves funding for water infrastructures, like ports, levees, and dams, that will help communities become more resilient to droughts, floods, and other inevitable events.

This recent approval by the federal government shows that they recognize that climate change is becoming a growing concern to the health and safety of communities across the country. Many groups, like NACE International, had been advocating for increased funding in water conservation, corrosion prevention, qualified personnel, and maximizing the use of green infrastructure solutions to manage storm water.

All that’s left is for President Obama to sign the bill.
