In addition to providing communities with fresh drinking water daily, American Water and its employees also participate in local programs and communities around the world. They have partnered with United Way and Water For People to aid in improving the quality of life for people in surrounding communities by providing clean sanitation facilities, education programs, clean drinking water, etc. American Water has donated more than $1 million to Water For People.

In France, on December 14, 2013, Veolia Environnement turned 160 years old. And they still make it their mission to provide basic essential services – like sanitary facilities and drinking water – to underdeveloped nations. In India, Veolia Water will be providing a constant supply of clean drinking water to 2.7 million residents in the Nagpur area. And back in France, Veolia Water started the Water Solidarity program that uses one per cent of total revenue to help disadvantaged people who have trouble paying their water bill.
