3 Ways to Build a Storage Tank

Here are three ways to build a storage tank – please note, we have not tested these, so build at your own risk. Any other videos or links to add to this?

How To Build a 6000-Gallon Water Tank

This “Instructables” piece features an impressive 11-step guide on building a 16-foot diameter, 4-foot tall water tank, capable of holding 6,000 gallons; however, you can alter the dimensions to fit your needs.  Although the dimensions are provided to build a square tank, it is explained how a round tank is far stronger and requires less work. The build process starts from laying the foundation and ends with laying a layer of acrylic cement and waterproof paint on the roof.

Typical Regional Water Storage Tank Construction

Wessex Water, a regional water and sewage treatment business serving an area of the south west of England, covering 10,000 square kilometers including Dorset, Somerset, Bristol, most of Wiltshire and parts of Gloucestershire and Hampshire, demonstrates the construction of a typical regional water storage system. This quality video clearly outlines the build in an easy to understand animated step-by-step process.

Build a Water Storage Tank

In central Arkansas, mini-farm owners found that water storage needs for the garden and livestock was insufficient. When they priced out a 1,000 gallon galvanized water storage tank at the local farm supply store, its $200 price inspired them to design their own and constructed a water storage tank in a weekend for relatively little expense and effort using material found mostly at your local hardware store.
